American-born songwriter Tyler Massey mixes various styles of American folk with the Classical tradition and a healthy dose of British psychedelia. This has resulted in a unique style of songwriting and a deft, sparse guitar technique which accompanies a slightly world-weary baritone voice.
He currently resides near Worcester, which is sort of in the middle bit of England (see map), but will gladly drive elsewhere when people ask him to come and sing.
In college, he played in several American bands, opening for dozens of acts from all over the states, including Adrian Belew, Mojo Nixon, The Afghan Whigs, The Romantics and the legendary Hasil Adkins.
Fleeing the Bush Administration and a general sense of ennui, he immigrated to the UK in 2005. Unbelievable though it may seem, he actually prefers living in the UK to the US, though this is mainly due to the fact that he has a fatal allergy to Conservative Christian Republicans (he has a doctor's note).
